Free tool. Business idea scorecard where every score shows its source.

Score up to ten ideas on weighted criteria. A score without a source still counts, but it is marked NOT VERIFIED, so you can see how much of the ranking rests on evidence.

What is a business idea scorecard?

A business idea scorecard ranks ideas with the same weighted criteria, each scored from 0 to 10. In this one every score carries its source and date; the result shows both the weighted score and the share of it that is backed by a source.

How the score is calculated

Plain arithmetic, shown in full.

  1. Discard first

Optional yes/no questions knock an idea out before scoring, such as a license you cannot get. The reason is kept.

  2. Weight the criteria

Six criteria by default: pain, willingness to pay, reachable market, channel, fit and risk. Weights are normalized if they do not add up to 100.

  3. Score with a source

Each score from 0 to 10 with the link and date of its evidence. No source means NOT VERIFIED.

  4. Read two numbers

Weighted score = Σ(weight × score) ÷ Σ weight. Verified share = weight of sourced scores ÷ total weight.

FAQ

Which criteria should I use to score business ideas?

Start with pain or demand, willingness to pay, reachable market, a channel you can use, fit with whoever launches it, and risk. Add or drop criteria to match your strategy, and keep the same set across ideas.

How should I set the weights?

Give the most weight to what kills most ideas in your portfolio, usually demand and willingness to pay. Keep weights fixed while you compare a batch of ideas.

Why does a score need a source?

A score without evidence is an opinion. Marking it NOT VERIFIED keeps it in the result but shows how much of the ranking depends on guesses.

What is a discard criterion?

A yes/no question that removes an idea before scoring, such as a license you cannot obtain. It saves time and keeps the reason on record.

Are my ideas stored anywhere?

No. The scorecard runs in your browser and keeps your entries only there until you clear them.

What FounderFold adds

  • Agents research each idea and fill in the source and date behind every score; you decide.
  • Discarded ideas keep their reason and family, so when an idea comes back you can see why it was dropped.
  • The scoring rubric is versioned per portfolio, so you can see which rules each decision used.
